Consumer Directed Services (CDS): A Medicaid based program that enables individuals to live independently.
Consumer: A physically disabled person determined by the Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) to be eligible for Consumer Directed Services.
Consumer Qualifications: * Must be at least 18 years old * Have a physical disability * Be able to self-direct services * Seeking or living in an independent situation * Medicaid eligible
Personal Care Attendant (PCA): The person you hire to come into your home and provide your services.
Personal Care Attendant Qualifications: *Be at least 18 years old *Be able to meet the physical and mental demands required by the consumer *Agree to maintain confidentiality *Be emotionally mature and dependable *Not be the consumer's spouse
Consumers are responsible for hiring and managing their attendant to assist them with ADLS such as, bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, toileting, meal preparation, housekeeping, and medication setup and reminder. A family member or friend can get paid for taking care of the consumer, with the exception of a spouse.
Family United Home Health Care provides training for hiring and managing attendants for Consumer Directed Services participants in the St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles, and Kansas City, MO areas at competitive pay.
